The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. James Epoke has pledged his unalloyed support in the fight against cultism in the University of Calabar to ensure a peaceful and learning environment.
The Vice Chancellor made the pledge recently at the conferment of the Award and Launch of "Cross of Decision" which was organized by Cross River State, Department of Orientation and Public Affairs in conjunction with Debbies Entertainment Productions held at the Unical International Conference Centre.
Prof. Epoke commended the Actors Guild of Nigeria for choosing Unical as their Launching abode as this will go a long way to showcase the ills of cultism thereby discouraging students from membership adding that the student ′ s stands to benefit from the sad experience from the film.
it was recalled that a certain lecturer was shot in the faculty of science some weeks back during examination period. Different versions of the story has emerged as to the reason for that devilish act. rumors has it that the victim was a disciplinarian and very strict to a fault.
He applauded the Guild for attracting array of politicians from Cross River State academia, students and members of the University community who came out en masse to grace the occasion.
