Ola, signor es signorita. Sorry I take Spanish a little too serious, you never know when u gonna be in a shootout. How’s the week been for you guys? Sure it’s been great. So a lot of shake ups and downs have been happening in the tech industry. Let’s dig into some….

    •     It seems the Xbox One outsold the PS4 by a couple million units and Microsoft is saying this is the beginning of a future trend where Xbox will out class PlayStations although we haven’t seen anything like a portable Xbox to rival the PSP. Good luck Microsoft.

    •         The Catalan boys had a four-on-four match up on the newly released fifa 15 at the LA Masia. Messi, Neymar, Alves and Munir play with the Barca home jersey while Pique, Jordi Alba, Ivan Rakitic and Marc Batra wore the bright orange away jersey and the played Barcelona vs Barcelona. Each player dressed in uniform and boots with their FIFA Ultimate Team profile picture behind them. Though the results haven’t been released yet. We just dey on standby.
    •       The World’s thinnest smartphone has been made by a Chinese start-up company, Oppo. The phone called the R5, is so slim it can’t use a normal headphone jack. The specs are;

    1.    5.2 inch 1080p display.

    2.    2GB memory.

    3.    A whooping 1.5GHZ Octa-core (8 cores) processor.

    4.    A 2000mAh battery

    5.    A 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

So it seems we have a contender for the title of Top Ten Smartphones.

    •    Apple’s new product, Apple pay which uses Near Field Connection in iPhone for instant payment at stores is coming under attack from Current C which is powered by big players like Wall-Mart, CVS and others. Both products offer similar capabilities and each trying to grab the mobile payment sector and so the battle is drawn. Google Wallet and PayPal are both in the foray but are not hitting it big. May the best product win.

    •          Chinese start-ups are starting to give Samsung and and the big leaguers a run for theirs money. Samsung has lost lots of revenue on phone sales and it might get more as the Chinese get into the business.

    •       Nexus 4 devices are getting the Android Lollipop (5.0) update, there is still a roll out going on and it should come to other droid devices soon. Tell us if you get the update.

    •     A single tweet has crashed twitter for iOS devices. A bug error discovered in a Punycode encoded URL. Once the URL appeared on an iOS user’s Timeline it instantly corrupted the client and caused it to go off.

The Punycode allows for Unicode characters like emojis to be represented in the limited ASCII character set.

Twitter’s iOS team were able to rectify the error within hours.

    •      According to the Cult of Mac, iOS is twice as memory efficient as Android. This is due to what is under the hood of both platforms. Android runs on java which requires the extra RAM for garbage collection. Garbage collection is the process memory recycling once an app is done with it. If the RAM is not about 4 to 8 times the amount require by the garbage collector, this creates a problem. iOS doesn’t suffer this cos it was avoided right from the start. Kudos to iOS.

    •      Nokia has released details of a tablet called the N1 which will run Android 4.0 or 5.0(IceCream Sandwich). Seems it will come with a 2.3GHz processor thats some heavy duty

    •        I also heard that there’s a belt that charges your smartphone and hold your trouser up too how cool is that.

There’s just too much news guys, we have belts charging phones, hoverboards, Applewatch etc. So I will hold up till tomorrow and continue. Have fun and may the odds ever be in your favour.

Spoiler: iOS8 takes down Droid 5.0?!
