Hello
people of Earth, we back again after so long with an interesting line up, We
continue from our spoiler alert.
*drum roll*….
The OS battles…iOS8 vs Android Lollipop!
We know most of you have laid hands on the iOS8
with the Android Lollipop still filtering in. these two keep tearing the snot
out of each other, and the benefits of one over the other are beginning to
blur. To analyse these two we have to do a full tear up of the workings and
where else to start but the visuals..
1. Visuals:
iOS8 has continued
the flat design we saw in iOS7 amd that keeps popping up as more websites and
apps begin to adopt the look. It feels smooth and clean and the feels is
silk…Jobs will be reeling in his grave with joy.
As for the Droid 5.0, Google
left the dark kitkat and made for a lighter, cleaner look, going past flat
design into material design, a new development they unveiled at the Google I/O
this year. It definitely feels better than the kitkat. Material design is the biggest
shift in visual philosophy for any platform and it’s a selling point.
Verdict:
Android 1-0
The data is too vast to compress so I will just
bullet through
2. Android
has up-ed their native keyboard to swyp-able capabilities. The new app drawer
allows one to go to an instant place and not just an app which helps to
multitask between different items within a single app. Verdict: Android 2-0
3. iOS
has improved more on their notification bar and included widgets though the
widgets are not as effective as those you find on Android.
4. Android
has improved to the 64-bit chipset we have been familiar with in iPhones
although it is highly dependent on third party manufacturers. Verdict: tie. Third party got in the way.
5. Both
platforms copied material from each other, talk about the back and forth
cheating. Android copied the “Do not Disturb” features while iOS took widget
capabilities and third party keyboards although they keyboards do not work
everywhere: -1 from both sides.
6. One
great feature of iOS is the ability to continue an action from any of your
devices crossing from phone to tab to pc.
Verdict: Android 1-1 iOS
7. iOS
is still a much safer platform due to closed OS details compared to Android’s
open source code Verdict: Android 1-2
iOS
8.
iOS
brings a timer mode, manual exposure control, enhanced photo editing
(colour/brightness) and time lapse video. Lollipop does less, but makes one
crucial change: direct access to edit RAW files. RAW files allow much clearer
pictures and edges closer to covering the gap made by android camera sensor Verdict: tie
9. With
project Volta taken from LG, Android is getting back at Apple and by maximizing
battery life. Unnecessary networking requests are blocked and backdoor qpps
minimized. Verdict: Android 2-2 iOS
I will leave it here. The pros and cons speak
for themselves. If you want a device that doesn’t involve you having to understand
every process going on, not wondering about ur phone’s abilities, then go for
an iPhone but if you like a phone with the joys of tweaking and evolving the
processes then by all means go for an Android. Every phone has its differences
in pros and cons. Just know what you want before you purchase.
Good night people I doubly apologize for my
lateness…the cloud was thick.
