“5 SILLY EXCUSES YOU MAKE TO STAY IN A BAD RELATIONSHIP”

Years ago I confessed to a distant uncle that I was having doubts about my relationship, it was really bad. My deepest fear was that I had to stay with her simply because we’ve had sex. Am sure a lot of you out there are clinging on to this similar excuse. Well, big uncle reminded me that sex outside marriage is a sin, BUT because you have already begun is not an excuse to continue. Please quit and ask God to cast this excuse down with your sins to the depths of the ocean, and embrace his perfect forgiveness. I did, and God has helped me move on from Pit to Pitta.

I have dug deep down to put together 5 most used excuses people give to stay in a bad relationship, and why none of them are good enough reasons.

Excuse #1: I’LL RATHER STAY THAN BE ALONE
What’s wrong with being single? Scripture speaking in Hebrews 13:5 the Bible says “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”; so you are not alone, with or without a relationship you are complete in Christ, lacking nothing. Please do not settle for an unhealthy relationship just to have a warm body near you, else you miss ‘the one’ God has purposed for you to marry.

    Excuse #2: I AM COMFORTABLE
How comfortable can you ever be in an unfruitful relationship? Even when you are being treated like a rag it’s no problem because you are enjoying the temporary benefits; Money, better public image, sex, fun and paparazzi? So What happens to you when the giver gets tired of giving?

Excuse #3: I LOVE HIM; I LOVE HER
Most of the time the love for our partner overshadows their love for us, blinding our eyes and hearts to the facts and reality that we have always being the ones chasing after them. Please step out of the love boat and walk on water, love is never enough!

Excuse #4: WE HAVE A CHILD TOGETHER, I CANT LEAVE
Why? You’ve got a great reason to take your baby and abandon that bad relationship that entangles you. Scripture speaking the Bible says “set aside every weight and run with PATIENCE” (Heb 12:1). Yes it is not going to be easy, but what is a life without joy and happiness? Let it all go and trust in the Lord.

Excuse #5: WE ARE ENGAGED; AM ALREADY COMMITTED
If you are having doubts please get your eyes off that engagement ring and use the valuable 11th hour time that you have now to reevaluate what you are going into, or choose to live the life of regret. It is a popular saying that “a broken engagement is better than a broken marriage”, and I so much agree. Get your heart off those wedding excitements and ask God to open your spiritual eyes. Your doubts could be a warning from the Holy Spirit.

Please “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” ~ Psalm 37:4
Never settle for less when you can enjoy a lot better?
